bad banding with k20d

today my k20d started generating this vertical banding on a lot of pictures. Totally random it seems. Have anyone seen this before or know what it could be??
I shot on iso 100-200 and using short exposures too. And it was RAW/DNG...

any ideas??

Check your SD card download speed. How long have you had the camera. That looks like a TV screen.

I´ve had it for 5 days. The SD card speed should be 6mb/sec (if that is what you mean) And yes, it looks like shit!!

Try another SD card and card reader and if you still have issues, send it back. The only way you would normally get that sort of pattern is from high levels of radio frequency interference. This can come about because of a poor contact in the camera or poorly applied shielding or a very old mobile phone or you live next door to a sub-station!

Is it just the one shot or all of them?

No it is several shots, They came in groups. Like 4-5 in a row and then it disappeard for like 30 shots, and came back again.
The bands were visible already in the camera.

Most likely a defective sensor, I'd get a replacement.

How were you able to narrow the fault down to the sensor and not some other factor?

Does the problem appear only in raw photos or in Jpeg as well (if it does not occur in both chances are it is not the sensor)

Can you see the lines on the camera's display screen or only after you download the images to your computer. (could be bad cable or software issue)

Is the battery at full or near full charge?

Did you try formatting the memory card to make sure that its file structure is not corrupt. (6Mb/sec sounds like a slow low end memory card, with a K20 I would suggest that you get a fast card to handle the large image files, something closer to 20Mb/sec)

I would be interested to know what you find out

so far its only in RAW it appears. Its visible in the camera display and the battery was not fully charged.
The SD card was formatted once. And about the SD card, its a san disk ultra II so it works with 15mb/sec.
I took several shots today and nothing appeard yet. I took out the card and the battery and put it back in. Maybe it was some kind of bad connection issue. Anyway I will go on and see if it appears again.
Yesterday it kept coming several times so...

If you got the card through an on-line store I'd almost bet that it's a fake

And the fakes have been known to cause many similar problems.

Since the camera is new....Send it back to avoid any doubts you may have. That is what I would do.

Easy, quick way to prove or disprove the SD card may be at fault is to swap it out and take about 100 shots and see if the problem persists.

If it is evident with another card, send the camera back and get a replacement.

yes, it was the sd card. I changed it to a 5 year old kingston card. Check out the difference!!
