Red and Yellow Artifacts on LCD screen

Hi all!

Just recently I started getting red and yellow spots on my LCD screen. This happens when I take a photo, indoors normally, and then preview it. The darker portions of the photo get active yellow pixels blinking on and off and on the brighter portions of the photo I get red pixels doing the same. It doesn't happen in a uniform manner and it happens in small areas of the photo. The artifacts on the screen do not appear in the final photo image on Photoshop or other PC image viewers. So, I can safely guess that this is an LCD screen problem only. Does anyone eles have this problem? And how did you deal with it?

I'm using a K10D w/ a Pentax 50-200 SMC. I'm shooting in RAW DNG. This happens with or WITHOUT flash.

Nothing is wrong. The yellow is showing you areas of the image where the sensor recorded 0% saturation. The red is showing you areas where the sensor recorded 100% saturation.

In other words, they are showing you the fully under-exposed and fully over-exposed areas of the image.

You can turn this off if you want in the menu.

That's the "Bright/Dark area" in Playback display or Digital Preview, I think.

Good lesson. At least the settings they changed didn't ruin a once-in-a-lifetime shot. Like if they left in on ISO1600, EV+2.
