Alternatives for a lost K10D battery charger.

So, it appears that I have donated part of my battery charger to the Money Patch, somewhere out on the bald assed prairie. I run it off an inverter while out in the field.

Assuming that I can't find it tomorrow when I swamp out my truck searching for it, I don't suppose there are any alternatives to calling Adorama or Beach and seeing how long it takes them to ship one?

I doubt there are alternatives, but it doesn't hurt to ask. I'm sure I'm not the first and won't be the last person to lose part of their charger or have it go south.

There's a lot to be said for electronic gadgets that can be fed standard disposable/rechargeable batteries in a pinch...

Perhaps the worst thing is I only lost HALF the charger... I still have the cord!

Damn, I hate that!

I use one from sterlingtek that works well:
Minolta NP-400 AC/DC Replacement Travel Battery Charger

It's designed for the Minolta NP-400, but it's pretty much the same battery.
It has a convenient built in plug so you don't have to worry about losing half of it.

The NP-400 is the same battery as the Pentax one.
I bought a battery and charger from a Hong King Ebay dealer for $20 including postage.
Arrived in 1 week and both work perfectly.

I've heard that most of our battery chargers don't fully charge the batteries anyways, so some people on the Sigma board over at DPR are suggesting using a third party charger. With voltage a indicator.

The Sigma bodies use the same batteries as the Pentax system, so they're out there.

Yes. I have five batteries, and don't normally carry a charger, but I got one battery with a charger for right on 20 bucks, delivered. Just hit eBay cameras, go to digital accessories, etc. I think the aftermarket charger is faster than the Pentax branded charger, though I haven't run a timed check.

I too use and am very happy with my Ebay $20 charger. Here is a decent place from which to start.

I got one of the "2 batteries plus travel charger" kits from Cameta Camera via Amazon (search for D-LI50 on Amazon), I like it. The brand of the batteries and charger is CTA. It's a very small charger, more convenient than the Pentax.

I bought the same kit, and it has been fine. The batteries seem to work about as well as the original (though I haven't tried to measure their performance), and the charger is nice and compact, easy to keep in your camera bag EVEN IF you still have the original charger at home.

I also have a couple of these CTA batteries, which are very good - no difference to the Pentax ones, except for the low price. I use a different charger, bought off ebay, with the added convenience, that I can connect it either to the mains or to the car's 12 volts outlet, all cabling included.

Well, I pulled the trigger so fast on the Sterlingtek suggestion that I didn't even bother to see if there were any more suggestions (only home from the Money Patch until Tuesday, so I needed SOMETHING to arrive before I headed back out on the bald assed prairie).

Then saw some of the other suggestions, looked around, and didn't realize there were so many alternatives - Adorama also has a mini charger kit as well. I already have a couple of batteries which has been lots so far when the truck has that big inverter in it, but the kit mentioned at being at Amazon looked just too good to pass up - the batteries make the charger a freebee. Now I'm set for some longer backpacking trips and bike expeditions...

Thanks for all the suggestions guys; I guess I've been dealing with the weird battery packs made for professional GPS's to the point I've been brainwashed into thinking there isn't anybody but the manufacturer to deal with.

You don't want to even know what batteries for some of the professional stuff costs (although, my luck being what it is, some of the RTK units use a 12 volt car battery that I get to hump up into the mountains on a backpack).

Anyways, looks like I'm all set. Thanks a lot folks...
