Thanks for the info Gary! Now that it seems unlikely that a new higher end Pentax DSLR will be coming out in the next couple of months, I guess I can commit to purchasing the K20D.

Watch something come out the day I get the camera...

Its 916.19 now - and I swear I saw it for 899.99 earlier today. Looks like it goes down $10 a day at the moment!
There is another seller at amazon (photoworld) which sells it for 899.99 (maybe thats what I saw earlier) and the set with the 18-55 is 876.86 as open box (warehouse deals).

I wonder were it ends, I guess since there is the KM now it will never go as low as the K10d, otherwise the 3 Pentax cameras should be only about $100 apart.

This does in no way help me balance my desires against my family's needs.

But it is interesting.

I've been closely watching the cost of the K20D drop over the past week. Unfortunately, I've been watching the same thing happen to my retirement fund.

Can someone tell me why there is such a huge price range when you do a search for the K20D?

I see some prices in the 500-600 range then up to 1000. This is body only in all cases.

I guess that at least a part of the price drop you are seeing now depends on the fact that the $ is stronger now than for just a few months ago. The $ is more than 10% more expensive seen from the eyes of the rest of the world.
From Pentax point of view, it's either increased profit or lowering the price for you

You wouldn't want to buy a dog biscuit from those low-ballers. Look them up on Store Ratings and Reviews by Real People - Trusted Online Shopping and save yourself some grief.

Look here
DidUPrice.com? it's there in the title (except that it should be DoUPrice.com)
The first store Photo Dynasty(trusted seller?) at $555 gets a .3 out of 10 rating at Reseller Ratings.com

As far as I am aware, there is no k20D price drop in Perth, Australia

Just went to the camera shop in murray street here and the price quoted is still A$1349 for the body.

I am hoping it drop to say A$1200 or so. Is this possible?
