they are actually still very new. Pentax has been using prior to these new styled caps, the same caps from the F series.

Its black . . . after the strip tease, I was expecting it to be a white K-m. I'm just not sure about thes "L" lenses though.

Yea, im curious about the differences between the DA and DA-L lenses... (price, quality, construction, feel, etc)

I'm not sure of the differences other than the plastic mount and lack of quick shift. I don't think the mount is a killer (hasn't been for canon and nikon) but the lack of quick shift does suck.

Food for thought.

yeah, but K-m does have all those bells and whistles *istDs doesn't - like shake reduction, for example. that alone could explain growth in size - it requires some space for movement and servos.

Yep, I didn't know they already had that for the DA II, as I never have seen one, thanks.

I assume the 2-lens kit is an EU thing, and not in the US?
The bundle here is the K2000, 1 lens, and a flash.

Tony
Yeah, I think the 2 kit deal is for Europe.

When it gets bright again in Sweden show us some of your lovely winter scenery!
It would have been nice if they could have at least included one lens hood. And sure, as soon as we get some other weather than this gray drizzle I'll take some photos… not sure how "wintery" they'll be as we don't have that much snow here in the southernmost parts of Sweden.

The lens caps are a bit different from the ones on my brothers DA 18-55 I that he's got on his K100D Super.

Not that much of a difference in quality really. However, the quick shift would have been nice to have.

It was yummy. That's the best thing about ordering from Cyberphoto.se, they always include some sweets.

We have had app. 20 cm of snow and -16/-19 deg Celsius here for the last week - quite unusual for the Frankfurt area. But very beautiful...

Congratz for you new camera!
I'm also thinking about buying the 2 lens kit as my first dslr (using a pana fz5 ultrazoom bridge atm). Are you satisfied with the k-m? How does the af system perform in low light?

Congrats on the K-m. I got mine before Xmas and I just love it. Its small and very quick. The Lithium batteries it ships with should do well in the cold. Don't bother with Nimh batteries out there though.

The DA-L lens is optically better than my old DA 18-55, don't know how it stacks up with the DA II though. The plastic lens mount is no big deal and the lens seems well constructed and very light. Shame about the lack of a hood though.
