Pie fight... with pies...

So later this week as part of the week-before-uni-starts festivities, also known as O-Week, people will be having a go at the world record of the most number of people participating in a pie fight...

i hope to stand on the sidelines and take photos...

as im sure people here are well accustomed to taking photos of food fights, if not pie fights, as im sure they're a common occurrence to take photos of, i'm just wondering if people have any suggestions..

will my 18-55mm kit lens suffice or should i go with my 55-300mm lens and try stay away from the creamy goodness and keep my lenses on a diet of well, nothing...

i'm not actually sure what the conditions will be - it'd probably be outside and hopefully on a beautifully sunny day...

oh and i'll definitely bring a little tea towel - just in case..

I'd get a cheap UV filter and a rain cover like this at Amazon for $6... Amazon.com: Op/Tech 18" SLR Rainsleeve for Digital & Film Cameras with Lenses up to 7" Diameter, 18" Long.: Electronics personally cake stuff would seem like a bad thing to get on your camera and lenses... very hard to clean off and potentially abrasive. Plus in things like this, events often turn into a frenzy and things get out of control quickly... I'd want a long zoom and running shoes... and maybe a short sword.

Yeah, the rain sleeve is a given. Perhaps you could also bring a friend to spot for you just in case. They can hold the shortsword.
