K20D low ISO banding noise

SLR?? Pentax ??(this is not my photo)

very strange, looks like something textile.

there is no EXIF information, but ISO100 and Bulb mode.

Never seen this before on my K20D or any other. It's impossible to tell the cause without know what window they were shooting through, the EXIF, etc.

Pretty picture, though.

Very unusual, not horizontal, nor vertical, but diagonal.
Are you sure this effect was straight out of the camera and not from editing?

To the best of my memory, I haven't seen this from any sensor-related noise posts. I'm wondering if this is EMI from the environment where the picture was captured, or from something on the photographers person like a cell phone. Beautiful cityscape scene, though.

Hmmm... I would go wit theory, that this is probably some sort of EMI/RFI interference. Probably form some radio/TV transmitter, radar, or GSM telephone...

I saw this once w/ a Fuji F30. Never was able to reproduce it and no idea why it did that...

Seems as you are ready to upgrade from 40D to K20D

Hi Miriya,
I saw you did sell your K10D and replaced it with a Canon 40D. Judging from your interest in K20D (you have started 2 threads in the last few days) it seems as you are ready to come back to Pentax. Considering the outstanding quality I have seen in the images from K20D on this forum I think it is a very wise move.

Welcome back !

Best regards,
Haakan

I love Pentax but I don't want to comeback to Pentax.

40D's IQ is equal of K10D, and noise reduction is better.
and much better at AF.(AF is top reason of replace K10D..)

I want better pixels and better AF, D/R, high ISO low noise.
so I want to go to the flagship.

but.. my stuff is too heavy.
70-200/2.8 + 40D + grip + 580EXII about 3kg..

I want to replace to 15Limited + Sigma 28.8 + 77Limited + 50-135
and with better AF new Pentax camera.

Yes most likely a close by transmitter (I'd even guess this was from the top of a building where people stick.... transmitters)
Anyways 5 min masking and blurring:

If he spends enough time that close to a radio signal source powerful enough to cause that kind of interference, he'll soon not have enough uncooked brain cells left to be disappointed.

Almost certainly this is radio frequency interference.
I already experienced this, too.
There probably are antennas on the top of the bulding.

Here's an example:

Crop:
I think it originated from the radar station.

Then I must have misunderstood. I did not think that anyone with no interest to purchase Pentax would ask about Pentax on a Pentax forum.

I did try the 40D when I evaluated different cameras, but I felt that the K10D was the camera that best fitted my needs - for me one factor was the image quality of K10D which I found to be better than the 40D (as did e.g. reviewers such as dpreview - quote - "the K10D in this comparison trumps the EOS 40D for detail") , and K20D seems to be a clear improvement on top of that.

Best regards,
Haakan

My thoughts too. It takes a certain amount of chutzpah to knock a product and ask for help from it's fans all in the same post.
