K20D Rear E-Dial Squeak?

Has anyone experienced this? I noticed tonight as I was scrolling the wheel that it seemed to get worst as I was testing it out. The front dial was fine, and scrolling smoothly, but the back on has some resistance and squeaking.

I haven't used the camera in a while and nothing has gone into it. I plan on sending it back, but I'm leaving for Hawaii on Thursday so I don't have time to wait. I don't want to have it seize up while I'm there. Anyone have a quick fix or has experienced this? Hope it's not too serious and will still perform while I'm away.

Nah, in all seriousness, it's prolly just some lubricant that's dried up or something. I seriously doubt you'll do any damage using it as it is. Worst case is that the part that 'clicks' gets a bit more worn. Unless you're constantly using that dial, you should be fine for one trip. Though, it's definitely prudent to send it in for a bit of lubrication.

On the other hand, if you feel there's alot of resistance and seizes up, then there's probably a broken piece in there somewhere. Best thing to do in that case is not to force it and avoid using it until you can send it in.

Good points. I was thinking of lubricating it with something, but thought better of it just incase they don't warranty it because I had put something in there.

If any of your lenses have aperture rings, and you are worried, you could try setting the aperture manually whenever possible. That would cut down the risk of it seizing while on vacation.
