Going back to firmware 1.02 on K10D?

Hi,

I purchased a 50-135 last fall and I just love it. However, I noticed that many users encounter problems with SDM. If, in two years, SDM of this lens fails, is it possible to revert to firmware 1.02 so that I can use this lens without SDM ? And if so, where can I find the 1.02 version and the instructions necessary to install it?

Regards,

IIRC, the SDM is on the lens and not in firmware on the K10D. You may not be able to use the lens without SDM

The lens may have the "screwdriver slot" I have not researched this. If it does, it is backward compatible with older bodies that don't have the contacts for the SDM Lenses. Is the slot that couples the lens to the motor in the body.

I believe 50-135 does have screwdrive and as such should be OK with K10D older than 1.03 and with K100/110 and *ist D bodies...

BR

PS: for the firmware, chceck the official Pentax site, or do they show only the newest firmware?

I like it when manufacturers don't REMOVE older firmware from their download sites.

K10D Firmware 1.20

For Windows:

For OS X

Thaks for the link. As far as I know, the 50-135 does have screwdrive. And so do the DA*200 and DA*300. Thus, if ever the SDM of my 50-135 fails, I can always revert back to firmware 1.20 and use it and the DA*200 that I also own with it.

Thanks for the clarification. So it can be used with older firmware too. I thought it could only work with the latest.
