Anyone have any K20D ISo 800 or 1600 RAW images?

If anyone could post crops or allow me to download a few raw files from the K20D that contain shadows at ISO800 and 1600 it would be fantastic.

I have a suspicion my unit is noisier than it should be.

Cheers.

I was real close to these birds and I believe they filled up around 1/3 of the frame

First one is iso 800 2nd one is iso 1600 with A300mmF4. straight jpg with minimal noise reduction from camera.

Ideally ISO 800 + 1600 RAW images with no NR in camera or in PP when importing to your converter. Can you dump them on a sharing site? I ask because at 15meg yahoo will not accept the file.

Cheers.

100% center crop (ISO800, DA* 300 f/4 at f/4, PNG straight from RAW [converted using ufraw+gimp], no post-processing):

Thanks, does the raw converter do any auto NR at all? I don't mean to be picky but I know Raw converts have seemingly endless auto functions you need to switch off.

I double-checked: "Denoise" in ufraw was set to 0. BTW, the shot was handheld, 1/350 s exposure.

Here is one at ISO 800, f/1.7 which is slightly underexposed. This is a test shot from when I did my sister's wedding:

Here is a 100% crop of the bottom right hand side in shadow / low exposure:

The noise is minimal, even in the shadows. To my eye it is perfectly acceptable grain at 100%.

No complaints at ISO 800 . I will go and take a test shot at ISO 1600 for you.

Iso 1600

Ok here are a couple of quick grab, high contrast shots. The one of the guitar was at f/1.7 hence the out of focus bits.

I have applied no noise reduction to these images in Camera Raw; I did try it out of interest and it does smooth over the noise that you can see in the shadows whilst sacrificing a bit of detail (I could easily remove some more noise), so these shots are pretty much "as is" with very little processing and no effort going into the composition.

Again, 1600 is perfectly fine and I wouldn't think twice of using it if I had to. If anyone says that the K20D can't do 1600 without a lot of noise, they're wrong .
