Do you think the K-7's video capablity will lead to a run on Russian lenses?

They don't have aperture stops -- which will lead to smooth transitions instead of progressive stops where half the light is cut in video mode.

It was the K10D that contributed to m42 lenses climbing a value; is a similar phenomenon possible for the K-7 and Russian lenses?

Not just Russian lenses, but old preset Takumars and some others too.

I dunno though. Video is a marginal feature for a lot of DSLR users. I doubt it will affect the market.

But anything's possible!

We might have a new engineering based on the smooth aperture clicks I guess. Never thought of this. Would be nice! My only russian lens is a badly scratched Industar 50

I really fail to see the motivation of these posts.

I do want a videocam... with a large sensor for shallow dof and interchangeable lenses... and I WILL buy one... and it's called the K-7.

I have the superb Volna-9 50 mm macro with the progressive aperture, that would be nice indeed. I suck at MF, so never bothered to venture more in to other Russian M42's, but you've got a good point.

you can modify a takumar to do that, all you have to do is remove the ball bearing from under the aperture ring and presto, you have a continuous aperture prime lens.
