problem with K100D ... no matrix metering

and consistent over exposure with both my kit lens and FA35/2 ...

I removed batteries, removed lens, cleaned contacts, tried a different lens... tried P,M, Scene (kids) mode even...

any ideas what else I can check tonight? I'll try to make some time to get one of the pictures posted with exif...

My K100D Super has Multi-segment (what you are calling matrix I'm guessing), Center Weighted and Spot Metering. It should be available in modes in the first menu tab.

Sorry, I wasnt explaining my problem completely.

My camera is malfunctioning. even when I attach a DA or FA lens, I am not given the choice of matrix metering, only CW and spot. Also the metering is way off.

I wasnt able to get an example file off the camera yet.

I am trying to think of what else I can check that might be the cause of the malfunction. It behaves as if it has an M lens on it when it has a full auto lens. Also checked that the aperture ring is in the A position on the FA.

any other ideas?

You can try cleaning the electrical contacts on the lens mount. Also make sure that none of them are damaged, meaning make sure that they are all sticking up to make a connection with the lens contacts.
What you are describing sounds like a contact problem where the camera thinks you have a M lens on the camera.

You cleaned the contacts on both the camera and the lens?

tried cleaning contacts

Thanks!

I did try cleaning the contacts... on the lens and the mount, also tried a different lens...

I agree it seems like the camera is misunderstanding the lens capabilities. I can try cleaning again... I'll see if cleaning with sensor cleaning fluid works better...

Ok, it gets a little weirder

DA and FA lenses work in Av and Manual like expected. Metering works fine. Aperture can be adjusted in camera and the shutter is adjusted with meter reading (in Av).

But Tv and P just flash the F stop and shutter speed.... A lot of my lenses are manual so I wouldnt have noticed a problem for a while.

Other than wiping contacts clean with sensor cleaner, does anyone have any other ideas?

I would hate to spend money on the K100D while waiting to afford a K-7
