I got my K10 out of the camera bag yesterday and noticed that the SR switch had broken off.
I found the switch in the bottom of my camera bag.
My bag's organised and it hasn't hit anything that may have caused it to break off like that.
The switch has remained in the "on" position cus I don't use a tripod much, so it hasn't broken from wear and tear of me turning it on and off a lot.
So, just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and how much a repair might cost.
Oh dear.
Sorry to see that.
The switch is quite solidly built - it must have been a shear force across the switch to have done that.
Can't say how much that would cost to fix - hope it works out for you.
Common problem on the K10D. Many have broken off. Do a search on the dpr forum and you will find it so. The best case is its broken in the on position because the SR is deactivated when in any delay mode or using the remote. Also I have not seen to many bad shots using it on the tripod with it still on. Of course if its in the off position try to get it back on
You might be able to get away with gluing it. As you won't use it much, it'll have time to harden, just make sure you don't glue it so that it's stuck in that position.
exactly the same thing happened to me,, shortly after i received my camera back from warranty from a bright pixel, it had run out of warranty but they still fixed it for free
Well, it happens to be in the "off" position.
Typical, as I pretty much always left it in the "on" position.
It must have got knocked into "off" position and broke.
I'll take it into Pentax when I get time...asap...
I won't tamper with it myself until I see what they have to say.
I checked DPR and found a few links, so thanks for the suggestions.
I'll update sometime later on what happened.
Until then, just as a reference, here's a couple of links about the same problem:

Could be an excuse to get the K-7 ehh?
I agree with DamnBrit. Gluing it should work, but put a tiny tiny dab so that it doesn't get stuck in that position. First check with your local Pentax dealer first though. If they can't fix it just try gluing it yourself.
It'll be away at the repair shop til the 15th, so that's 10 days without it.
Hopefully the final update.
Took it in on Saturday afternoon, they sent it that day, and it came back Wednesday morning.
Much sooner than the estimated 10 days.
The swith seems a lot stiffer than when I first bought it.
I've read a lot of things about poor customer service in various places, but my verdict of Japan's customer service is excellent.
