Anyone got the K200d and the K20d OR anyone sold the K200d and purchased a K20d. ? Reason I"m asking is I"m considering going to the K20d from my K200d but I want to know if it's really worthwhile. Thought I might add that I never use the little mountains ,runners and other OEM settings. Thanks Dave

I had the K200D briefly but the K10 or K20D is preferable. You will notice that the viewfinder is way better especially if you get the magnifying piece.

I also didn't like the grip that much either. And most importantly the high iso capability of the K20D is vastly superior. Cropping of photo's also a lot easier with the extra 4mp.

I can only tell you I have both, and they serve TWO different purposes for me.

Any concert, or catalog stuff I do, I use the K20D.
Almost all other times I take the K200D, as I like the size and just the way it feels. The K20D to me is a pretty big camera.

Like I said, for concert work (high iso) shooting I would take the K20D hands down. For a high quality carry around camera, I'd take the K200D.

I don't have a K200D, but do have a K10D and a K20D. All I can tell you is that the K20D has performed well beyond my expectations, is trouble free, and a true joy to use. The high range ISO IQ has been very satisfactory for my needs and the cropping is fantastic ( I am a habitual cropper). This is one nice and high quality camera, and only a fool like me would want anything more.....I will be ordering the K7 soon, but still don't know exactly why? If you aren't happy with the K20D, you are most likely in need of therapy. I don't do therapy, but there are plenty here that do! LOL

Strange, I'm in the same boat and I've considered the K20D now that the K7 is out but still pricey... hmm...

I love the K200D. It's still a blast to use. Now whether the benefits justify the cost is a different story... hmm....

I upgraded from the K200D to the 20D about 8 months ago, and I only had my first regrets two nights ago, trying to shoot lightning. The k200d allows you to turn off long exposure noise reduction (dark frame subtraction) while with the k20d it's mandatory and the photos are still noisier than the k200d produced. If you often shoot over five second exposures, I'd keep the k200d or upgrade to the k10d instead of the 20... If you don't use long exposures, you'll probably love the 20d.

I knew that I could turn off the noise reduction for longer exposures on the K10D as I have it but I didn't know you couldn't do it on the K20D even after latest firmware updates. seems odd to me.

I also have the K10D and K20D. The K10D having a very similar sensor as the K200D makes beautiful 10Mp images. But I'd say the K20D still outshines that 10Mp sensor, particularly in high ISO/low light settings. What you have to be weary of is adequate exposure (as with any camera) since underexposure is your worst enemy if you hate noise.

Get that right and you'll get brilliant images even at ISO 2000, whereas the K10D/K200D would struggle to get a decent image at ISO 1250/1600.
