A question for K7 owners

first of all congrats
i would like to ask those new K7 owners who had the K20D
did you see a vast improvement in
metering system
autofocus speed
autofocus in low light
shake reduction
high iso
image quality

i was just at the shop comparing the two side by side. k7 wins by a long shot. sucks because it's double the price.

K20D was introduced at the same price of $1299 as K-7.

K-7 has loads more functions, refinement, build and durability for exactly the same amount of $. A tremendous deal

Try to put it into perspective?

That only applies if the K-7 and K20D were released at the same time.
Technology advances, and so market price, driven by consumer demand, available technology and cost of production would probably be similar price for each flagship model released

No, it applies because in a few months the K-7 will be at K20D price.

Only had the K7 a few days but .......

metering system - improved

image quality - hard to tell... noticed a vast improvement though when using indoor external flash, so for me better if anything

Only on Day 4 here, and spending part of my time with it exploring the video, but so far...

Also since I shoot RAW and there is a new PEF version, I updated Lightroom, so there are a couple other variables added to my experience..

Metering - appears to have improved, seems to be tricked less so and thus overridden a little less often.

AF speed - improved noticeably

AF Accuracy - big improvement.

AF in low light, the assist lamp makes a difference

SR - seems like it has improved, but my overall experience shooting with the camera has been a short but positive one, so it is hard to discern at this early stage, it could be that the camera feels nicer in my hand, and holds more nicely, so....

Size and ergonomics - nicer for me.

Thought I'd add to this for K10D owners

metering - vast improvement

AF - vast improvement

AF low light - vast improvement

SR - generous improvement

High iso - generous/vast improvement

IQ - not fair, but vast again

And I've only had it since Saturday!

Hi everyone, I slipped with my K20d + flash in my hand and broke the camera shell where the flash is attached. Camera still works but not the flash...
This explains why I'm looking at K-7, quick question for the lucky new owners:
Can you turn off the AF assist light? As I often find it disturbing in low light situations.

Yes, you can. It's a menu item. C - 32

Also, it's green, so very undisturbing.

And it also activates only in very low light and very shortly. They have done a nice job here IMHO.
