Not sure about a hard drive but there are plenty of devices that you can download to and even view from.

dont think so mate.. unless you have a portable hard drive media centre that has access for usb, hdmi etc.

I bought one of them and had to send back for repair as it never worked, purchased for the same reason you have as well as having the ability to save directly then view on TV with HDMI connection.

cheers

There are a variety of devices made specifically for this purpose, where you usually stick the SD card into a card slot and it loads whatever's on the card. Unfortunately, most of these devices also include large screens for viewing the photos and etc. so they cost considerably more than portable hard drives of similar capacity (I've seen 1tb going as low as $100 these days, much cheaper than any of the photo-specific devices).

A plain portable external hard drive won't do the job. For standalone viewing, you would need a photo viewer with Hard Drive e.g. like an Epson P-6000 with 80GB

Amazon.com: Epson P-6000 80GB Multimedia Storage Drive, Photo Viewer and Audio-Video Player w/ 4-Inch LCD: Camera & Photo

http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Foci-P.../ref=pd_cp_p_2

Or you can even use an iPOD with iWAY SD card reader, but the screen is so small.

I honestly think such devices are overpriced ...maybe someone here nows an El Cheapo equivalent..

As said I purchased one of these

Macron 3.5" Hard Drive Enclosure with inbuilt Media Player MP-8860

a mate has one and his works great... mine didn't and was returned to where I purchased awaiting either a refund or a new replacement.

You can fit it with whatever size hard drive you want upto 1 terrabyte.. it stores video and jpeg as well as audio.. you can then playback on any pc or TV
Cheers

Hi,

I'm using an ARCHOS 5 (250GB) with the optional mini dock. It has an USB host so I'm able to connect the cam with the cams USB cabel.

Fine thing is: It's able to show dng images (not tried pef so far now update: I testet K200d and K20d PEFs and it works).
It don't need a power supply.
A very good display also : 4.8'' TFT LC-Display, 800 x 480 Pixel

And: it plays various multimedia formats with the codec plugins.

ARCHOS

Greetings,

Matze
