1/8000 s can be fun...

Focus is on the water, not the head. This is approaching flash speed!
Anyone else care to post stop-action shots (no flash) with the new 1/8000 capability of the K-7?

These are taken with the K10D so not 1/8000th but around 1/4000th as I'm still waiting for my K-7. Lens used it the 35mm Macro LTD. All photos taken using a clear plastic tank filled with water with object dropped in, camera pre-focused and shutter pressed manually by guess work.

I can't wait to try some of this stuff with a K-7 and the 1/8000th shutter speed.

The corks are extremely well done, and really cool! I should try that someday.

dopey those shots are awesome! They stop action so well, they seem to be flash-based. Makes my shot seem boring. I look forward to you getting a K-7 as well...

I did a whole 2 month project on high speed photography (for my Final Major Project at College a few weeks ago and won the Fine Art Photography Award starting with using a manual flash to freeze water droplets but this only works in a dark environment as using flash in daylight the daylight overpowers the flash leaving blurs etc. I then discovered I could just use this tank for several shots with a high shutter speed but it wouldn't have worked say if I'd of put a black piece of card behind becasue there wouldn't be enough light.

If you want to try this get a cup fill it 3/4 up with water then get an assistant to drop something anything into the coin having pre-focuses the camera on a tripod with a high shutter speed and get used to manualy clicking the shutter at what you think is the right time. It's a bit hit and miss but it gives some amazing results.

There's a few more from this series on mywebsite under misc.
