Exciting K-7 unboxing and a possible problem with the new body

I went out and did an unplanned purchase yesterday and I have the K-7 now. The new body design is suprisingly good, it feels better in hand than the K20d. Sensor cleaning on startup and all the other sounds this thing makes sound all much more civilized than the K20d's. The LCD is excellent, a pleasure to use.

EDIT: the issue is indeed solved now, no need to get scared

But then I've noticed a problem with the camera's buffer. I can only shoot 4 continous shots before the camera slows down to about one shot every 2 seconds, which just doesn't make any sense. When I fire only one shot, I have to wait 5 seconds to get a preview on the LCD. I copied everything off the card, formatted it and no change. I tried 2 different cards, same thing there. Every one of these cards work very well on the K20d, but with the K-7, the writing seems to be slow. I may have to take this body back to the shop tomorrow.

Lol about 10 seconds after posting I told my friend on IRC about this issue, and he pointed out that apparently the lens corrections slow the camera down, so yeah, I had CA correction enabled and after disabling it, my K-7 is a machine gun. 100% happy now.

Here's how the pics looks like with my current raw developing software on Linux

I also did a video test K-7 video test, boring material on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

I don't know if the look in that image is what you were going for color wise, but if not, I remember reading that if using GIMP on Linux there's something you need to download for the white balance of the K7 to be displayed correctly during RAW development.

just dont forget to push the mode dial button when turning the exposure dial, or you might break your new K-7.

Other things I've noticed: there's a MLU option in the function menu, which was not there in the K20D. Shutter can be opened in bulb mode with one push of a button with the remote, and closed with another. The menus are much easier to use. Everything is better and the camera is even seriously good looking.

since the OP is a new owner, I said that he should be careful not to force the mode dial because he might think that it's not working and might end up breaking it by turning it forcefully without pushing the release button.
