just how good is the K7 shake reduction?

the attached image is shot with an SMC 300mmF4 plus 1.7x AF TC (510mm focal length total). Considering the crop factor, this would equate to a 750mm lens on a film body, implying a hand hold shutter speed of 1/750

Can anyone else do better, this was shot at 1/40 a full 4 stops below the rule of thumb.

I saw this after drinking 2 cups of coffee and had to accept the challenge. Put the promaster 1.7xtc on the f*300mm and onto the K7. It had just stopped raining and the birds began to show up. handheld, f4.5, 1/15, iso100, 300mm, approx 20ft away. i can't say i did better, but the sr on the k7 is "very good". last image is with a bit of PP

We see through your promotional verbiage. You are just very good at hand-holding.

Seriously, very impressive image, unbelievable for the focal length / shutter speed combination.

ivoire, 1/15 might have been pushing it - I think there's quite a bit of shake visible in the your shot.

EDIT - or the combination of lens and teleconverter has produced softness.

yep, my hands shake quite a bit normally and afte coffee even worse... plus the added softness of the tc doesn't help. but that was the idea behind the combination for illustrating shake reduction. I bought into pentax because of the SR as 'familial tremors/epilepsy' runs in the family lineage
