Rebates

Pentax announced a ton of new rebates recently. I got my e-mail today.

B&H has K10D bodies for $800 after rebate ($50). The rebate is $150 on the body w/50-200 zoom.

Does this portend the advent of the 2008 model?

Not really. The rebates have been going on for a while and are being renewed each month. The latest round did change a few things. If you want to read into it that the new model is coming feel free .

You guys are lucky.

Here in Norway we're so unfortuant that there's NO rebates. NONE.
The K10D w/kit lens has a retail price of 9.995 Kr from Pentax Norway, that's about 1640 US $, where 1999Kr is tax (roughly 330 $).

The only thing that keeps most of us from buying from the US is :
1. We have 5 year warranty (By national laws) for production error/weaknesses.
2. As far as I know Pentax Norway don't (naturally) feel like extending the 5 year warranty to housings bought in another country.

Looks like the receipe for the price here is US $ *10 = Norwegian retail.
Even though the exchangerate is 1 US $ = 6.10 Kr.

Bottom line : Those rebates sure sounds sweet.

Yeah, but Norway has always been pricy, hasn't it?

We used to go to Norway on NATO exercises every year. All the guys on their first exercise in Norway used to go into town at the end of the exercise - after TRYING to have a night on the town and coming back to the bivvy area flat broke, they understood why all the other guys stayed in town to drink and party in the junior ranks.

Couldn't BELIEVE the price of everything over there. Of course, maybe that's just a sign our dollar isn't worth squat over there.
