From what I've seen, a lot of people who own a K100D, K-m/K2000, and even a K10D are speaking of "upgrading" to the K-x. The quality of this camera for the pricing is really good, not a surprise. I knew the K-7 would drop it's price more, I know it's still not done yet. I still bought mine anyways because I can't really stand the wait much longer =P And for people who don't like the K-7's "tinyness", now the K-7, + D-BG4 grip, and extra LI-90 battery all together will cost the original K-7's MSRP price of 1300.
Prices are dropping in general
With the exception of the hard-to-find cameras that get obnoxiously spiked in price by 3rd-party profiteers, the rest of the available cameras are dropping in price. Among them, the Canon 50D is now going for $982 as body-only, the Pentax K7 body-only has dropped to $1022, and the D300s is now price-matching the Canon 7D, which is currently in-stock and that helped it climb up to the #5 spot. No bad for a $1700 camera that is in-and-out of stock!
Beware... The 18-55 kit lens comes in two versions, the older AL and the AL II, which is sharper and better made. Some of the K-7 kit prices are with the older lens.
I just got a K-x, I'm going to wait for the next pro camera with K-x ISO performance.
This may hurt k-7 sales if allot of people have the same plans I do. IT will make K-7 prices drop and the next model arrive soon.
I Plan to do the same. id really just like a more feature packed k-x with weather sealed. but for now I plan to go k-x and maybe upgrade in a year or so. Use the k-x as backup...
btw through newegg + Bing cashback this body only is 998.62 shipped
I had expected the prices to spring back up when November started, because the Pentax "instant rebate" was no longer in effect. So far, no sign of that...looks like none of the retailers want to be the first to jack up the price.
Good for us buyers. Especially good for me, because I'll be buying some time this month.
yup and if you look good you can pick up a k-x body for 550.00 shipped... so to me its cheaper, and better suited for my needs than a t1i or d5000... but glad to see prices come down... i wouldnt mind seeing the k-x for 500 body only by christmas time
From what I have observed, it is more of those with the K100D/S who are upgrading.
You can see this from the marketplace as a lot of the K100D/S series are now being unloaded.
I guess they see better ISO performance on the K-x rather than the other Pentax models, which just goes to prove that the K100D/S series are really good cameras!
