Kx Wedding Test

After owning the Kx for 3 days, I got a chance to test drive it under tough condition. Low light church wedding test. As I was not an on duty photographer for a change, and sit as a guest, I decided to bring a discrete camera to shoot for fun.

So I brought DA 21 LTD, 70 LTD and DA 55-300mm. All not very fast.

I was sitting in the middle row, so my view was not great. Lots of people were blocking me. I guess to bring in context, the first photo basically shows how far I was to the action. Oh well, I like the challenge of using what I have (my fixed location) and see what kind of photos I can get under such situation.

So far the pics turn out better than I hope for an entry level cam. All are taken using in camera JPEG, and no PP. Just resize using Picasa to post here.

These pic will not earn any awards, but it will show how well KX perform under low light condition. I wish my K7 got such Jpeg performance.

1. DA 21mm, f3.2, ISO 5000, 1/60s - Done using LiveView, and its quite fast!
2. DA 70mm, f2.4, ISO 5000, 1/100s
3. DA 21mm, f3.2, ISO 5000, 1/60s
4. 300mm, f5.8, ISO 6400, 1/50s
5. 170mm, f4.5, ISO 6400, 1/80s

Thanks for posting these K-x samples. Despite the difficult conditions the photos turned out very well.

The K-x makes it appear as if these was lots of light available inside that church, but no doubt that wasn't the case.

And successfully using the 55-300mm indoors! In a church interior under available light! Now I've seen everything.

This is the Westley Church in Perth CBD. I was the main photog for a wedding last month in the same church, and using K7 and fast prime, I was still struggling with my shutter speed.

As K7 has lots of noise above ISO 1600, I have to limit myself on that level only. Lots of flash, but needs a bit more ambient light to get the "feel", hence I was using quite a slow flash sync speed of 1/30s. Man! I wish I had Kx then.

Awesome, can't wait for my K-x which has been incorrectly routed :\

Do you have any bigger samples? How did they come out on larger resolution files / can you imagine how the print quality would be?
