I would point my K-x at my wife from chest high trying to get a surprise snapshot. The focusing beam cast a red grid pattern on her face and focused fast and accurately in near total darkness. I dont remember ever seeing this red grid pattern from a focusing beam on any of my other cameras. My Canon S3IS has a green focusing beam but its just a plain beam, no pattern.
Was it with the flash? K-x doesn't have focus beam.
heh, sounds like a attached flash's focus beam. The sigma DG500 super I borrowed has a very dim gridded red flash beam like that and it worked surprisingly well
Oh duh, I guess it was... went back and looked at the photo, it was with my 360 flash attached. Sorry.... I never noticed that before now. I haven't been taking many pictures in complete darkness!
Thanks for the post. Did you do anything else besides noise ninja? I actually like the colors better in the before shots (note the pumpkin in the porch pic, for example). Exposure, too, on several of the after shots seems to have gone up. A few look overexposed.
Another good set of results at ISO 3200 and 6400.
12,800 looks useable for web viewing - looks uncomfortably noisy for print even with NR IMO.
But this is great - the K-x is a little workhorse.
Pentax's next flagship's gotta be a real winner when it comes out!
Ash, I thought print tolerates more noise than web viewing ?

If you are referring to the last two, I totally agree. I like the originals better.
The only change was "auto profiled" noise ninja....
@skid2964: The Pentax K-x is blasphemy! Canon, Nikon, and Sony should start an inquisition. There is no science here ... merely wizardry and witchcraft.
off with the k-x's head !!! this is madness ! no, this is..... PENTAX !!!
I've played with RAW from K-x. It seems to me - K-x has strange yellow, red and green.
To correct the colour of each photo in convertor is rather lazy for me.
Yellow has green cast, red is with raspberry pink cast, green is a bit acid green.
The colour are not well-balanced and I can say it's rather pops colours.
With higher ISO - more acid. The jpeg from Raw and in-camera jpeg are rather similiar.
No way to set good colours with WB level in RAW-converter. Need to work under all colours separately.
As for JPEG - either pale, or too "acid".
Of course, there are a lof of pops colour-lovers...

Nothing at all is wrong with the K-x colours. Why do you even bother posting such foolishness. Get ahold of one and see for yourself.
