MZ-7 mode dial light?

I have a question for anyone with an MZ-7 / ZX-7.

Does the mode dial light up for EVERY selection?

Mine lights up for auto modes (AUTO PICT, smiley, portrait, landscape, closeup, sports and night portrait.)

It DOES NOT light up when choosing the manual/options (Tv, Av, M, ISO or beep).

Should it? Do I have a burned out lamp?

Also, the illumination of the internal display seems to change sometimes. Does it have an auto-brightness? Or should I be concerned?

Thanks for any input.

Dave

I saw a presentation for it on one of the Pentax websites (can't remember which, sadly); and I did see only the scene modes lighting up.

I have a ZX-7 . It does the same thing .

The manual should have a thing or two on it . I don't have it with me at this present time . But you should not be worried : if you're looking at a bright view , the number will appear darker .

Nice little camera !

OK great, thanks all!

I actually read through the entire manual, and I couldn't find it discussed.

I have a warranty on the MZ-7, so I want to make sure it's acting right.

Dave;

You don't have any lamps burned out. It only lights for the upper half of the dial. Nothing in the manual or semi-manual modes. I guess some corners got cut.
