Brendan Fraser is a film nerd too ...

Brendan "The Mummy" Fraser is an old-fashioned film guy, it seems. In this Saturday's Guardian, he responds to the question "What Do You Know About?" by saying:

Photography. People think that digital cameras take photographs. They don't. They capture images. I do primarily black and white. And I will print them myself.

He goes on to say:

... all hard drives will fail. Negatives last forever.

Nice to know we're not alone.

That's not all he said... read on

He also said in reference to a question about his love of Hi-Fi audio systems:

I dont use an Ipod. Or any of the new Hi-Fidelity digital formats. People think that this music recorded in digital form is real music, but it is really just a bunch of ones and zeros.
I still record all my music onto 8-track tapes with a pro-recorder that I bought off of ebay. There is a warmth and depth in the tape hiss. And a comfortable familiarity with the tracks changing in the middle of a song... You know that evertime when the song gets to "and she's buying a stair... " that the track change is coming... the loud thunk of the mechanical dance of the head moving to the next track, then the awkward seconds of silence before "...way to heavan" kicks in...

HE IS A MAN's MAN and an old fashioned regular guy for sure....

But 8-track was never a truly hi-fi format, was it...? High-end cassette is capable of much higher fidelity than high-end 8-track, last time I looked...

This coming from a guy who loves vinyl and listens to music on his 1970-vintage Pioneer receiver and lusts after a quality reel-to-reel. Yes, I do use an iPod (gasp!) too...

Still, he's a verrry cool guy.

Long Live Analog!

I was never a fan of his work (remember Encino Man? )

But he's analog, which is cool with me.

Analog would be a pretty cool Username here - maybe I should join again!

I'd name my next kid Analog. If it's a boy, Analog Lens Nesster. A girl, Analog Tonearm Nesster.

With well over 50 titles in my living room (+ 2 pick-up decks), I suppose you can say yes.

so "blast from the past" was sorta auto biography?

Unfiortunately do not have a tape recorder anymore, only a few cassetes left, and my Vynils are being "cared"by a good friend
