Pentax 6x7 curtain.

Are they hard to come by? Are they hard to change? Found a cheap 6x7 with a leaking curtain.

And when I say cheap I mean cheap. about 150$ with a 75/2.8 and a extra waistlevel finder.

I do believe that Eric Hendrickson repairs the 6x7 MLU & later models..Shoot him an e-mail as to parts availability..You might have to cannibalize another non-repairable camera for parts..

Hm. They don't make them at all anymore? I thought Pentax still supported 67 and 645?

Yeah I know about fixes

Rumors have been flying about since 2002 as to whether or not Pentax is still manufacturing new 67II cameras , 67 & M*67 lenses, 645NII cameras, & FA & FA* 645 lenses..Or whether the new cameras that have been steadily sold in Asia since 2002 are NOS..

Tin Cheung Camera Company in Hong Kong, as well as other venders, have seemed to have a steady supply of new cameras & lenses for the Pentax 67 & 645 formats ever since I first became interested in a 67II camera almost 2 years ago..I base this assumption on the fact that Tin Cheung has never been out of stock of either camera or the majority of their respective lenses since I first visited their website almost 2 years ago..They currently have the entire 645 line-up in stock, including the hard-to-get FA* 150-300mm f5.6 ED (IF) zoom lens..They also have everything but the M*400mm f4 ED (IF) lens in stock..I usually visit the website at least once a month to lust & drool over a 67II camera..

My gut impression, which seems to differ from the opinions of various posters at photo.net, the Manual Focus Forum, & here at Pentax Forums is that the demand for Pentax 67 & 645 medium format cameras & lenses in Asia has remained steady enough for Pentax to periodically make production runs of both cameras & their respective lenses..

The only lenses not currently available over-the-counter in Asia are the smc-Pentax 67 M*400mm f4 ED(IF), the smc-Pentax 67 M*800mm f6.7 ED (IF); both of which I have heard can still be special ordered..Don't know this for sure..

I don't know if the smc-Pentax 645 A*600mm f5.6 ED (IF) is still available for special order in Asia..

Since there is currently no restrictive lead ban legislation on the books in most Asian countries, Pentax can afford to manufacture these cameras & lenses without having to redesign & retool as they would if they were to sell in Canada, the USA, or the EU..

E-mailing Eric would probable be the best way to find out the current situation as to spare parts availability..I seem to recall several dissatisfied Pentaxians over the past year that found it difficult dealing with Pentax USA as regards to support for the older 67 cameras..

I don't believe (I could be wrong here) that Pentax is supporting for spare parts & repairs anything other than the 645NII & the 67II cameras, & the newest lenses for each format..

My apologies zewrak..

I keep forgetting that you are in Sweden..I've read several places recently of people that mailed their 67 camera back to Japan as the only way to get it repaired..If worse comes to worse, this might be an option for you..

Perhaps Mike Cash, Chris Wilson, or one of the other members of this forum that live & work in Japan might chime in as to the feasibility of your sending a camera to Japan for repairs??..

Are there not several highly regarded Pentax repair techs still working in Britain??..Have you looked in that direction for spare parts??..

Thanks for your long and informative posts.

I have mailed Pentax in Germany, but still waiting for a reply. The Swedish division of Pentax, relay everything anyway to germany. I am starting to think that there is no Swedish Pentax anymore, at all.

It's a shame really. I'll wait and see what Pentax reply to me about CLA and service. But if I have to send stuff to Japan to get it fixed, I think I will look at a Hasselblad or Mamiya system instead. Atleast HB is Swedish

But it would have been fun to use Pentax 67 and 645, since I can adapt the lenses to the K10D. However, there is always a limit of personal sacrifice to get what you want. Maybe it's just time to forget about the 67 before I get used and hooked to it

Ofcourse the HB and Mamiya also have digital backs that are getting down to "possible" prices on the used market.

Well, I'll see what Pentax tells me. I genuinly thought that both 67 and 645 was 100% supported still by Pentax. I am kind of disappointed.

Good thing Norway still have their repairman! Maybe I should ask for some lessons in repairing old Pentaxes and get some spare part fast-ish?

There's a guy in Finland who used to be the head of Pentax Finland repair division and he still repairs 35mm film Pentaxes (apparently won't repair digital). He said he's no expert on 6x7 but can do some stuff so maybe worth asking?

Have you tried contacting Foto-Flod in Stockholm. They are Pentax specialists. They used to service and repair cameras for Pentax Sweden. URL: FOTO-FLOD - Räddningen för trasiga kameror och ledsna fotografer. E-mail: verkstaden@fotoflod.se .

Fovi AS - Forsiden They do repairs.
If you want to use them, do it before Focus takes over in january.
