pentax me..did I buy the right battery?

I just bought a used ME that needed batteries. I just bought a 1.5v from Radio Shack (type 76). Thats what my ME Super takes. Did I buy the wrong battery? The light meter only lights for a split second and very dim at that. I don't have the manual for the ME so I just took a guess it was the same battery as the Super??

The ME requires two of the LR44 or SR44 type. (I believe they're also known as type 76). Did you replace just one battery?

If my retail time in the 80's is still in memory, you should have LR 44s or PS 76es in there.

Same thing, sizewise. In any event, this shouldn't account for erratic behavior in the meter.

Oh, I suggest you clean the contacts. Clean red pencil erasers will usually do it.
