Prime m -> prime ii

I did some measuring yesterday. I have at home at the time 645D, K-5, K-01 and Q. To my findings the PRIME M is twice the speed of PRIME II. This is only a small measuring, since I did bursts of RAW+jpg and RAW-only and jpg-only. With the K-01 there was a faster writespeed then ever possible was with K-5. It topped out at about 25 MB/s.

So no idea wheater the PRIME M has more in it, or is working at it max-speed or that limitation is in processing or going true the pipes of electronics. It could also be that part of it's performance is only for video. I have no idea how that works.

I used a SanDisk PRO 95MB/s UHS-I card for this.

Pretty sure it's a new chip. My favorite thing about it is how fast playback mode it.

If i remember correctly you could do 21MB/s with the K5 so 25MB/s is not twice the speed...
And we are talking about the whole system not the processor.

What about RAW only?

The K-01 could do RAW only at 1 fps without any limit.

The twice the speed is not about the writingspeed (K-5 topped at about 19 MB/s writespeed on average). I did a test with RAW+JPG *** with al lens-aberation-hilight corrections turned ON. After the buffer was full (K-01 only takes 2 or 3 pictures in the buffer) the K-01 was twice as fast in processing and writing then the K-5. This was to test the processor at it's most bussiest time with shiploads of work.

You didn't made that clear with your first comment and only clearly stated the writspeed so that's what i mean.

I'm very curious about the RAW performance of the Prime-m but it's hard to test because of the bit rate difference and because of the low FPS speed of the K-01.
Basically you didn't add any new information then what you said last time.

12bit RAW has 68 719 476 736 colour combination
14bit RAW has 4 398 046 511 104 colour combinations
So about 64 times more information.
That's also a point to consider.

It surely is fast with Jpeg but i'm not convinced with RAW yet.
