I cannot see much difference at ISO 800 between the K30 and K5. The K30 hasnt handled the red cushion cover well but otherwise the it is delivering a very sharp, crisp image with good colour saturation and minimal noise. Slightly sharper and slighltly less noise than the K5 and certainly better WB.

Well now. Not much difference at 3200 but at 6400 its clear Pentax have found something more with the K30. The K5 noticeably falls apart at 6400 but the K30 does not. Definitely an improvement here.

I'm not seeing a huge improvement @ 6400, the K30 is marginally though definitely sharper in full size comparisons of those comparator images on my screen but I wouldn't say the K5 falls apart??

That difference in sharpness seems to be apparent even @ 400 so possibly just a lens issue?

Hmm, don't see much at 6400, but at 25600 the K-5 clearly comes out on top - much less color noise. Comparing the K-01 to K-30 they look almost identical (as to be expected). The K-30 might have the edge on contrast over the K-01 at 25600.

Yes I can see the colour noise coming at 12800 especially in the grey background.

Photos on the ships bridge show that it has very good dynamic range. That shot where you can see both inside the ship and clearly through the window also is almost HDR,

not much different from the K-5. only some sharpening and a bit more contrast from the K30, possibly from raw enhancement or weaker AA filter. both cameras have excellent IQ at 6400.

Take a look at the filename: y_hdrautoalign_IMGP0201.HTM
It actually *is* HDR
