Stains on your K5d sensor poll

As seen in a few threads, sadly some K5d seem to have come out of the factory with stains on the sensor which are visible at f11 or above.

Please only answer the poll if you have tested your camera.

If yours has a stain, put the serial number in our serial database, and mark it as damaged: Pentax K-5 Serials - Pentax Serial Number Database - PentaxForums.com

Shoot a well lit white background (or the sky) at f11 or above and low iso. Look at the resulting photo full size towards the middle of the frame.

List your s/n and if your camera is clean or stained.

This thread is just to get an idea of the % of affected cameras and is not a discussion thread, there are already a few excellent threads on the subject. For discussion check out https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-k-5-forum/124985-advanced-stainology.html and https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-k-5-forum/124799-some-k-5s-shipped...aa-filter.html

There could be, and then again, maybe not. It may be just dust.
I have said yes, but am not convinced it is a stain, though having trouble blowing these marks off the sensor.

Serial No.3842409

???????????????????

Nevertheless, I am quite happy with my K5

Same here. I have two marks, almost in the exact same spot as yours that don't seem to want to let go despite multiple attempts to blow them away.

Mine has a small row of marks similar to others which show up at high f values. There is a blemish on the sensor which is visible to the naked eye.
Obviously my concerns are that it might get worse and that if I wanted to sell it in a year or so the used value would be badly dented.

Serial number 38226xx

I bought it at the end of October from SRS Microsystems in UK They are a pentax dealer. I 'phoned today and they are waiting from a response from Japan. It seems that the problem has been acknowledged as a 'known issue' and they are waiting for intructions whether to replace or repair.

Very glad I bought from SRS. It is clear that customer satisfaction is very important to them.

Mine is a yes (picture posted in the other thread). Good news, I just got off the phone with my seller (London Camera Exchange) and they apparently have a clean one in stock and they're swapping mine out for that one today. Nice.
