Pentax K-r DISCONTINUED

B&H website is now showing the K-r as being discontinued. Whats going on?

Lol I don't think anyone buys the K-r body only- doesn't like like you can get it without the lens from Pentax either.

Up to this time, they, along with Adorama, Amazon, Buy.com, etc. have all sold the K-r "body-only" for $542.00. I have the K-100D, K-10D and K-20D and bought them all "body-only". I belive all the Pentax cameras "DSLR" you could buy "body-only".

Maybe Pentax cannot keep up with their camera orders!!!! and have to cut back on production.

Or maybe a bean counter (accountant) ran the numbers and decided it made more sense to only offer the K-r with kit lens.

ahem ... the red and white bodies are discontinued with 18-55 too.

maybe the flood in thailand is affecting shipping or production.

Well here still all colours for sale. Not a sign of discontinouing. But that the K-r is up for replacement is clear (at least in my mind).

Well, the sequel to the kr should be coming out before too long, I would think -- life span on entry model is a year, give or take a month or two.

I was reading review of K-r and followed the link from there, I was heart broken when I saw "Discontinued"

I think the link should be updated to valid link which doesnt say "Discontinued" like this Pentax K-r Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm Zoom Lens 14636 B&H

It might give a negative point for a potential K-r buyer...

Actually, it would make perfect sense. It took a bit for retailers to sell the rest of the Kx's (and I think there are still some of those out there) once the Kr came out, looks like they are moving to make the announcement of the replacement.

There is a thread on here mentioning some Best Buy Stores (the stores, not online) are actually carrying a few Pentax's now - that news coupled with the discontinuance of the Kr almost absolutely guarantee's we will see some new stuff from the Pentax arm of Ricoh real soon (I am guessing really really soon, december'ish)!
