Found some old negatives, need to scan.

I have some old negatives that appear to be 6x7 or 6x4.5, I will have to measure to be sure.

I have an Epson 3590 flatbed scanner that has a feature to scan 35mm negatives, is there a way to use this to scan them? A correct size negative holder? If not, what is my best option?

You will notice though that like most store bought scans, they are suggesting a scan that makes a 4.5 mb file per negative. My canoscan makes a 120mb file at full 48 bit color depth x something over 40 megapixels.

I appreciate the offer but I cannot let these negatives leave my posession. They are a treasure, photos of my mother and family we never knew existed until last week.

I looked at the Canon scanner you sugested. Very interesting, I may just get one of those for negatives and leave my Epson setup with the photo feeder.

See if you can find someone you know that has an Epson V500 or V700 or equivalent to scan them. My V500 has the holder for medium format negatives. That or get yourself a V500 and learn how to do it.

Since you need to remove the white panel to scan slides, try this. Remove the white panel and lay the film on the scanner bed. Turn off Thumbnail view and scan the negatives after you do that, highlight the negatives and click on the auto exposure button, this should show your photos. I did this for 127 film and was able to get photos out of the result.
