2 New Ads

Hey, just got the september issue of Popular Photography.

Pentax have the outiside back page advertising PENTAX Photo Gallery

They also have another ad inside close to the front, by the letters section, advertising Pentaxian.com :: The Community For Pentax Users

Seems they are finally doing something right when it comes to marketing.

Hmm, I wonder why do they advertise completely empty WWW site? Is this supposed to be a teaser, will something happen on September 6?

How about TV and Radio?

They need to run it in all the photography magazines they can. Also run some TV and radio ads would be nice. It will take time but if they are committed and willing to challenge the market leaders on some level this is as good a time to do it as any withe K10D winning so many awards.

Wow, for a second I was quite thrilled about the idea of Pentax actually upgrading/expanding their cyberspace outreach.

=========================
Their website is rather bland and there's just not enough punch in the graphics. Like I look at their lenses page and theres a real lack of consistency and detail especially in the product photography dept. I mean look at Sigma's lens page. Its bold, straight to the point information, got MTF chart for everyone of its lenses, sample photos, consistent product photos of their lenses.
=========================

But then again when I read the tagline...a Community for Pentax Users...what will that mean for Pentaxforums.com?

A fair question. I guess that will depend on what format the site takes. Will it be information only or will it be interactive?

Well, if you read the background text it says "YOU MIGHT CALL THIS A FORUM" so I guess we'll have a forum over there as well.
Unless it's free and uncensored like this one I'm staying here. Otherwise I might "jump ship" along the others and this forum might become a ghost ship.
I don't know should I be happy or sad for pentaxian.com

PENTAXIAN.com

said site to be launched on September 6th.

Others here, too, I imagine?

regarding invites

Perhaps those accepted on the Pentax Photo Gallery were the people sent the invites?

I received mine today too - as Tom stated, launching Sept. 6th, 2007.

Did they leave any hints as to the site's features? Hmm, I guess I should actually take some photos with pentax glass rather than talk about it so much.

I recieved mine, as well. It came to the email address I only use for the Pentax Photo Gallery, this forum, and smugmug. So, I agree that it is connected to the Gallery.
