Only if the rebates reflected the price adjustments. There is absolutely no excuse for a product to almost double it's price over night or even a year. Pentax is not thinking.
Dangitt - I swore I wasn't going to get April fooled but I think I was on like page 23 of this thread before I finally noticed the 2007 date. Excuse me, I need to go release a little "energy." I think I'll take a picture with my K10D then blow it up.

The deserving party is anyone who allows themselves to get more emotionally invested in something they don't yet own and can't control than they are in their present vision and the tools they have on hand to realize it.
Against my better judgement I went there yesterday, if only for a half hour or so. I was so dang mad at Pentax when I realized it was all a dream that I couln't have taken a decent picture with all the best gear in the world for the rest of the day. I looked over at my K10D and sneered contemptuously at its loathesome inadequacy. I wanted to burn a voodo doll of Ned Bunell in effegy. I called my ink man to see if he could change the "RO" to an "SU" on my "PENTAX ROCKS" tattoo. Worst of all, I insulted a photographer I really admire because he dared to fuel the flame... two years ago.
