Hopefully coordinates can be embedded in RAW as well.

If it's less than $200, put me on the pre-order list.

Here is the Pentax press release. It doesn’t say anything about RAW files but is does say interesting things like a limited star tracking using the on board SR. MSRP 249.95 but this should go down.

Bummer that there is no K-7 compatibility. But I do like the direction Pentax is heading in.

Wow, the Astrotracer technology looks mega cool if it works; moving the sensor to eliminate star trails for longer duration exposures.

The other good thing about this is that it guarantees a firmware release for the K-5 and K-r at least in the next 2 months. Usually firmware rleeases come with some extra goodies or squashed bugs.

Very interesting. I think I mentioned something about Pentax putting GPS into their DSLRs. This might suggest a direction Pentax might be going in the future in their desire to create the perfect field/nature camera.

The Astrotracer sounds like a killer feature. I'll be curious to see how much more exposure time it can provide before star trails are produced.

The MSRP of $250 doesn't sound bad.

For comparison, the Nikon GP-1 has an MSRP of US$265.00 and typically sells for around $200.

It's a step in the right direction, but a big "mushroom" on top of the camra is not the best for travelling. I hope they integrate that GPS into their future DSLR bodies, like Sony with their A55.

That assembly looks a little fragile to my eye, but who knows until units are actually in hand.

I can only hope that K10/K20 or K-x firmware updates are planned so I can take advantage of this.

Wow,
1. Cheaper
2. Astrotracker
3. WR
4. Simple navigation

Yeah, I'd say if it works well the Pentax GPS is a much much better value.

I wouldn't count on that.
Pentax would want owners of the K10D/K20D to upgrade to the K-5.
