Yesterday I mounted my M-50/1.7 on my K10D and set the aperture to 1.7 and went for a walk. It was a fun exercise, I'm still amazed that this precious little lens was the kit lens for my MX more than 30 years ago (well, actually, it's not the same sample, I sold it with the MX, but I now have two M-50/1.7 lenses, one bought used about 12 years ago, and one I bought for my father as a kit lens for his ME Super 26 years ago).
And new flash .. weather sealed + shorter recycling time .. 6 sec is old school ..
I really hope there will be no DA* 11-16/2,8 EVER. This would NOT be wise. Everybody would say that it is just rabadged Tokina for twice the original price. And this would probably be true.
Pentax needs to be percieved as maker of original, high quality lens. Sharing designs with Tokina, rebadging Tamron and cloning lenses for Samsung were all bad moves and I really hope new Hoya management will put them to end.
Of course I'd like to see Tokina 11-16 in Pentax mount, but not as a DA* lens. I'd like to buy it as a Tokina for Tokina price.
Instead of encouraging new features like everyone else, I'm going to encourage Pentax to continue to do what they have been doing right:
1) Continue to use the same battery setup you have been using. I love being able to use my cheap NiMH AA rechargables and be able to run up to the corner drug store or gas station to get replacements while on the field. Don't go proprietary!
2) Continue building solid bodies. I'm amazed at the cheap feel of other more popular brands.
3) Continue offering weather sealed bodies, lenses, and accessories. I would really like to see a 18-250mm version.
Please make a wide angle (12-16mm or so) Shift lens. Canon and Nikon have TS-E, or PC lenses. Those of us in the Pentax world have to settle for the K-Series 28mm, or MC Arsat or Hartblei. For that money I would pay for those in today's market, I would love to see a new DA* lens, that may cost more money, but is designed for today's APS-C size sensors that you continue to stick to, has AF, and an easier system for shifting, and rotating the lens. Also, make it so I can thread a Cokin style holder on the front, unlike the K series 28mm Shift lens.
Dear Pentax ,
Please stop forcing me to buy third party and used lenses . I will not buy Da or any other crop lens! You have all but elliminated your full frame line up and thereby elliminated the potential for me to buy your lenses.
The top item on my wish list would be a full frame , high image quality , reasonably priced (yeah I know that part hurts you to the core), well built 17-70mm.
I thought this would be released w/ the 77 metering but:
- please release a supported split prism focus screen and disable metering around the prism area that blacks out and confuses the metering
It'd be nice to have this as an option since we have all this great backwards compatibility w/ manual focus lenses...
right. and please, give us the option to buy a good quality split prism from pentax, why not (rightfully) cash in on your backwards compatibility by selling one more accessory? look at how well catzeye is doing.
