I have good friend who changed ist D to K10D this summer.
He has DA16-45/4, Sigma 70-200/2.8, FA43 and FA77.
Yes, AF of K10D is quicker and more "prehensile". On good level.
The main problem is that he can't shoot like with ist D - K10D's AF slide down to infinity very often.
It's annoying. Only auto selection works good. But he always uses center point.
Go to russian penta-club.ru - a lot of the same problems. Not 1 or 2.
I had BF with 43 and 77 at ist DS. All are adjusted with hidden engineer menu.
AF/BF/FF is head ache for a lot of users of Pentax.
I have friend with ist D who used screw-driver and made openings in the lower side of body to screw AF screws.

The same applies to users of all brands. Why do you think Nikon put in a AF fine adjustment feature in D300? It wouldn't have been necessary if their AF system works well for all lenses, would it? And you can read the problem they are having despite the availability of such feature:

I certainly don't find K10D's AF having any problem in good light. It is fast and accurate, as confirmed in most reviews.

Huh. Weird. My K10D focuses fine. Even in low light. Not a problem. It focuses where I never could manually in existing light. Absolutely no complaints here.

YOU ARE RIGHT! Canon, Sony and even Nikon suffer from BF/FF.
But, I want to see camera with minor AF problems or without. With Pentax fixed lenses, for example. With DA* zooms. With native lenses.

If you have not AF problems with pentax bodies, it doesn't mean that there are no problems at all...^)) I didn't know problems too when I used FA50/1.4 with DS. When I bought FA limited, I got AF problems.

Of course but your staement in itself proves your "I don't buy a K10D because friends have problems with it" completely baseless IMO.

But I respect that although I don't understand your reasoning at all.

Pentamirror instead of true pentaprism, wheater sealing, AA sized batteries, two wheels control are the first things to come to my mind.
