Pentax International Press conference in Dubai, 08/01/10th

From the italian Magazine Reflex website, the news that pentax is going to held its first Internationla press conference in Dubai, next thursday. The article doesn't release anything fopr certain, but implies that two new reflex will be presented, replacing the K10D and the K100D with a 14 and 10 megapixel sensor respectively.

Seriously, though, it's not sure exactly what will be revealed when. This might just be about the new 200mm and 300mm lenses, so let's not all get our hopes up too high.

I had seen a reference to this about a month ago. Will be interesting to see if Pentax will 'tell all' at this press conference given C***ns plans to announce on the 24th.

Hahah, i dont think anyone would be in the least bit surprised if that happened....hell they still have a week to prepare plan B now that plan A has been thwarted..

In Lew of all the speculative posts going on that sounds like some good advice, but i for one would actually be more stoked if it was indeed about the new lenses. Either way i hope it does happen next week.

I doubt that a "first international press conference" will be dedicated to "just" two lenses.

My ignorant guess: cameras presented (no hands on), specifications unveiled and eventually some easy pictures taken with them. PMA: hands on-shoot-ad-libitum-fun-for-all (but not for me, I wont be there)

If Pentax is going to pay the flight for Dubai to the press, I guess we'll see very sweet report about the new cameras.

Maybe Pentax has skipped over the 645D, gone straight to a digital 6X7, and they're having the press conference in Dubai because the Sultan is the only person who will be able to afford the darned thing!

Dubai is the perfect location for such an announcement from the Pentax camp. Its no secret its the new mecca for entrepreneurialism with gazillionaires and investors flocking over there to cash in. Couldnt think of a better high profile location for a first ever international press conference. At least they arent sparing the pennies when it comes to marketing.

I can understand the Paris news conference on 1/24/08. The first Hoya/Pentax news conference coming from Tokyo or Vietnam would make sense. Having a news event prior to PMA makes sense, but why in Dubai?
