Like what???
I would be happy to see 10 new FF lenses because without a lot of new glass the FF camera would make no sense at all.
No current wide angle will fit and the current focal length line up are optimzed for smaller sensors.
There was a time when Leica told everybody that they should stick to the R system - which is gone by now.

old glass is OLD GLASS is old glass and will remain OLD glass. A new camera (sensor) requires new glass.

Of course it depends entirely on what 'old glass' you're talking about.

That seems like a rather blanket statement. Old glass can be an is often good.

and... right now there are many, many, many 'new' ff glass options.

Hell, I'll start a thread on it.

I think we might have a bit of a translation problem here -

This Pentax representative was reported to have said the 645D was going to go down in price this year?

????? ? ?? ?? Pentax - ?????? ?????-????? - ???????? 45

You can't confirm it or deny it, because you didn't spent all the time with Pentax representative and didn't record all his words.

On two press-conferences Anton Melnikov didn't say this to the audience. I was on both. But of course 645D is an old enough camera and price cutting is logic step.

Yes, it does seem quite appropriate, especially with the D800 coming in at 3k.

I think I'd rather have the 645D than the D800... but I'm actually not completely sure about that. I don't think there's going to be an Sigma-Merrill (sp?) type situation here but perhaps a reduction to ~7K is in order.

I see two ways:
1. New 645D Mk II with price USD10 000. 645D will go to the level of USD6000-7000.
2. Sony will produce new cheap MF sensors...And situation could be rather unpredictable ...In the finest sense .

What will we see? I don't know

Either one of those situations would be pretty nice. Unfortunately the doubling (or more) of price from D800/35mm or whatever lens to 645D/55mm isn't really 'worth it' to most, especially when you consider the ubiquity, weight, etc., advantages of the Nikon.

On the other hand the 645D is reasonably price/IQ competitive with other systems, say 1DX etc. Those other systems aren't as limited to 'slow' photography, though, of course.

So what's the 'right' price for the 645D in the market? I certainly think it'd be a hit at $6k, especially if there appears to be support for a 'system' - i.e. the 645D II is released, and a few more lenses are released...

A price reduction for 645D is logical, given that its more than a yearl old. With nikon 36 M pixels going at 3K and pentax about 10K for 40 M pixels, it beocmes unattractive to compete with its competitors. Those who wants a 645d would have gotten it by now and so the growth phase is over by now as its more than a year old in technology.

I agree and would welcome this news...lol...
