haha! the canon makes barely a peep of noise, so i wonder if canon took out that mirror "scratches head"
The mirror was well damped in the Canon - $$$ to implement.
Anyways, if the Live View rumors turn out to be true, and there is AF and metering with Live View, then you would have very quiet and vibrationless shutter release with Live View in K20D.

Lens's in my bag, DA 16-45, DA 18-250, DA 70mm, SMC F 50 1.7.
Keep at home but use DA 18-55, FA 50 1.4, SMC F 35-70, F 35-105, F 70-210, F 100-300, and way too many A and M's to list.
Since the K10D is bigger and more solid, the mirror impact shakes the body less.
In fact the bigger impact/noise happens when the mirror returns (easy to see with longer exposure times). Still noisy, but it won't affect the picture that much.
There is supposed to be a press conference in Beijing for the Asian launch; Jan 24 I believe.
I have a vested interest in being clear on these dates, as Pentax has my inoperative K10D in Ontario right now. They await my decision...trade for K10D or buy upgrade.
What kind of shutter release does pentax use, is it mechanical? I hope they discontinue it. I watched the camera actually shudder on release, while it was on a tripod. And that awful cluk clunk sound scares my dog.
No shudder on my K100D, what tripod are you using?
