The only issue with a front leaning mirror/prism hump, is that it limits the diameter of the lens you can put on it. I don't think that's a big deal for 95% of the lenses out there, but I serioulsy doubt you can get a SMC Reflex 1000mm on that body or possibly other mirror/reflex lenses. Dunno. We'll see.

When the specs come out, I predict this will be a home run for Pentax.

After the Q and K-01, it's about time we see a new DSLR from Pentax. I am going to sleep soundly tonight!!!

Well done.
I agree this looks like a real home run item. offers enough extra versus a D5100 and T3 to really do well (a sub $1000 WR kit is a real winner IMO )

I really like the look of this. It's unique.

And the positioning is intriguing -- above the K-x/K-r a little bit, but below the K-5. We may yet see a 3- or 4-body DSLR lineup.

Here's hoping!

Weird (by which I mean ugly). Looks like they're ashamed of the PENTAX brand and want to hide it. Why not make the name badge bit vertical? Can't see any reason not to?

Specs look ok, but it's not for this K-7 owner.

well i'd say that pretty much guarantees the model now to have them do the official press release with the feature set (If this leak wasn't authorized by Pentax marketing i bet they are steaming mad right now)

thanks for the link

Edit - the grip material looks pretty cool. definitely a change in style

I like it. I think it looks aggressive and modern. It does seem like they just took the K5 and changed the body a bit. Probably took out a few features. Its a good idea as the K5 is STILL a fantastic performer. So to put this out there I don't mind it at all... WR mid range DSLR? score. Maybe a good backup for my K5 depending on whatever else is in the pipeline.

Could we see a K3 and a K3000 now too?

K3 Full frame? (yea right)
K3000 the true KR replacement?

Does it mean new WR lenses as well ?

A 35mm WR could be nice for street photography in wet cities (London ? )

Didn't Pentax had a patent for a new kind of viewfinder? That might be its first implementation...

They did have a patent for a hydbrid viewfinder (both optical and digital). I wouldn't expect to see such a leading edge technology in a mid-level camera before the high-end camera gets it.

With the K-5 at the same price, why would I buy that camera? It has to have something spectacular hidden.

I thought the same thing, looks like an ashamed dog with it's head hanging down.
