Any information regarding DA* 60-250mm?

I've been contemplating my future lens purchases (as soon as I sell my old pickup) and information on this lens is extremely sparse.

I know from another thread our Chinese/French friends somehow got hold of the upcoming 17-70mm SDM, and I'm wondering if anyone knows of a similar event with the DA* 60-250?

------

Assuming the DA* is quality glass and not priced through the roof, I'm thinking my new lens lineup will be

DA* 16-50 (yes I will work to get a good copy)

DA* 60-250

..and then my wife will not have to listen to me pine about lenses ever again...at least for a little while!

Any information / rumors on 60-250 besides a "summer" release?

Call it wishful thinking. Let's hope Pentax don't push the launch date back even further.

If Pentax want to go FF they must make a FF lens *60-250...
Maybe? I can't find another reasons to make it so long...

its on the roadmap still, thats better than nothing
But in reality I think they are working out kinks in SDM with zooms. No reports yet in the primes of malfunctioning but the zooms (16-50 and 50-135) have had some reports (specfically the 16-50, I had it go up on mine even) Just a theory

It is possible I think that they may be redesigning it optimal full frame performance if they are really releasing a full frame camera.

I don't think such a "strange" range of focal lenghts would be on a FF lens.

It was on the January roadmap, and still on the March one as well, that the lens is expected to ship in summer. Summer ends September the 21st, so I fear it will be presented at Photokina and then released.

i hope they keep it an internal zoom,

i hate those "compact" lenses that shift out when you zoom.

This lens has been on the road map for a long time- september of 2006 is the earliest I see any mention of it. Rumors were floating around during PMA that Pentax/Hoya were holding it back to 'do something special to it.' Take that for what it's worth. I just hope it's a good lens, well-sealed, and well-built. It could be that they started production, were having even worse problems than the 16-50, and decided to try and re-do the design to help the QC problems. Nobody really knows.

I am still on the fence with this lens cuz it laps what I already have, it would add to the convenience if the IQ is on par, but if it is not an IF and IZ the it is a deal breaker for sure. I think it will be though as from what I can tell from pics I have seen of it, it is a big mofo, and it is a DA*.

I'm assuming that IF stands for internal focus, but what the heck is an IZ?
