i will be disapointed if this is true..i hoped for D300 killer, not for a small limited camera . In fact i dont understand why anyone would like a smaller camera better than K10D/K20D D80/90 and D300..all this cameras have a perfect size for me.

There are millions of people who want small, light DSLR's. What if you want the image quality but not the inherent weight? To me there is no point of using Limited lenses (I mean the pancakes here) on a K20D + grip. In many cases your setup needs to be as light as possible. This market has a lot of potential and Pentax needs the sales.

Of course, such a "Limited" camera does not mean that Pentax won't come up with a D300-level camera. Pentax needs more bodies and the Limited body will be one of them.

You know this just from having seen the camera? You must have some pretty accurate vision...

So it sits between the D (735.30 cm3) and the DS (767.25 cm3)?

It's hard to make digital MX. But, the width is less than M-Series Film Bodies.

I like small cameras, but since DS2 they all have inadequate view finders

I think basically what I mean is a body of similar dimensions of the *ist series, but without the grip (requiring an alternative for the batteries) and without the built-it flash, thus making the entire package a tad smaller. If Pentax would reintroduce the full KAF mount we could again use the aperture ring and only one dial (for shutter speed) would be enough on the body. With a pancake lens that would make a much slimmer setup than the *ist series. But of course that will never happen, since the full KAF mount won't come back, a DSLR without build-in flash won't sell and they probably won't find sufficient place to put the batteries if there's no grip...

But, if it's small enough and it's not based around the Sony 10MP CCD, but around a new (Samsung) CMOS, perhaps I could still be persuaded to get this as a little back-up camera to tuck away in the corner of a bag... Preferably smaller than the *istDS, not in absolute volume but in distribution of that volume over the body...
