What a silly thread.. Whats more, I can't believe I read through it. However, it was a fun cool read....Personally, my Pentax dream would be that they simply would finish their Lens road map and think about SDM glass in the 400-600mm range...
Maybe Pentax should get on the SUPER ZOOM (18x +) non-interchangable lens bandwagon like Fuji (s8000/8100) and Olympus (UZ-570) but allow those lenses to use filters unlike their counterparts. I see that even Nikon has jumped on board with that segmant of the photographic consumer. They all have the same problem, high noise at low ISOs. If Pentax can solve that, I would even think of it being a second camera for me.
They already have it .... a 14X zoom and a camera with an APS-C size sensor ... for
some sample pictures ...check the link:
I've shopped there for years, and they support our club (Edmonton Camera Club) too. It's a family run business and they will price match most prices where they can.
Nick! Are you blokes really payin' $480 for a 40mm Limited??
well possable now, the new Canon 1000 camera is a super crippled (and less button) XTI, so if pentax can come in under their price with a slightly better body Bingo (oh and soon, not a year from now)
If they released a 5mpix dslr with low light performance and fps comparable to nikon d3 that'd be pretty cool in my book... but is there be enough demand?
Is any camera coming out with single shot bracketting? (or is it available already?) Seems conceptually easy...
If Pentax makes a low end DSLR, they stand a chance of getting the kids and starving students on board. That's how the K1000 worked originally for Pentax from what I've read. These kids and students will hopefully become the next generation of Pro's and by then Pentax can have a Pro DSLR ready for them.
If Pentax makes a Pro DSLR now, the only guaranteed market they have are the enthusiasts like the people on this Forum who suffer from CBA and can afford them. All the Pro's have their systems already. I don't think Pentax is going to gamble that Pro's with C and N are going to jump ship and buy a Pentax just because they've brought out a camera for them.
Pentax cannot make a low end camera if they do not make low end lenses, its that simple.
Won't you consider the 18-55mm kit lens "low end" enough? How much simpler do you want it to be? Wait, let's take away the zoom ring and viola we get a prime lens.
