To me this increases the chance we are going to see a full frame pentax in September.

But then at that focal range, is it any easier to build the lens for aps-c only?

So this could mean nothing, or it could mean FF is arround the corner.

I going to believe it means full frame!

Heard it all before. I will believe it when they are in the local stores when I can acually lock one on my camera. I have been waiting on the Sigma version for months. Always, "next month.. no no next month" Now they too are saying the end of September. Damn, its been so long coming I will have to go through the whole approval process with the wife again. JIMBO

I got a call from my camera shop the other day just after he received notice from sigma that their 70-200 f2.8 is now available for Pentax. I wish he had called a week earlier as I just bought a new HD camcorder with accessories on the tax free weekend, now what to sell to finance this lens?

I will check with my local photo store tomorrow where I have it on pre-order... along with the 2X tele-converter... We told it was still looking like late September in Canada... Hope I am wrong.. though my camera is in for repair which I am not expecting for a couple of weeks. JIMBO

So does this Tamron have built in motor or is it screw drive? Hard to tell from that link.

IIRC, it works off the screw Drive. The Advantage of the Sigma is that it has HSM (SDM) built into the lens, so if the camera body has the capability, it'll focus quickly. I'm leaning towards the sigma...so dpreview didn't have the highest regards for it, but i'm interested in the HSM focusing.

I don't know if BH has the Tamron 70-200 in stock. I don't even think it's been released yet...

Yeah... I'd be the same. sort of why I asked. I knew the Sigma had it.

So looks like I save up for the Sigma or wait for the * 60-250

Just wait a few more weeks for the 60-250. of coarse it's going to cost a little more than 700.00 bucks.

What if only samsung plans to release FF body while pentax can't move over APS?

Rumors say that is the actual next steps for these 2 companies.

Pentax will release a new fantastic entry level body (only manual programmes, small body etc.) while Samsung will announce FF body15MP...

Well, I'd prefer Samsung to announce and not deliver rather than Pentax.
Samsung can announce months before actual shipping. Pentax can't afford that. It doesn't mean Pentax won't.
