No big news from Samsung apart from showing their HZ1 compact camera:
News - Photokina 2008 - Samsung denies Pentax take-over bid - Digital Photography Now
They emphasized that they have no plan to buy Pentax.
They refused to give out any more details for its micro four thirds competitor, "
however, one Samsung speaker did say he believed all the DSLR camera manufacturers were now working on similar projects to develop smaller and lighter cameras with interchangeable lenses. "
My thoughts:
The Hybrid or EVIL market is going to explode in the next 2 to 3 years, and will be the next big thing. Panasonic projected a hybrid market of 23 million units vs DSLR's 7 million vs P&S's 93 million. This is going to be huge and would probably merge partially with HD camcorder market segment.
