Pentax interview

In japanese:
uK20Dv‚ƁuK200Dv‚ŒŒp‹@‚2009”N‰‘O‚“Š“

Trnslate with whatever you want (Babelfish or google) ...

Not read yet... comments in a couple minutes..

EDIT: the automatic translation is awful but for the most important things (remember they can say what they want of course, they might not want to disclose too much).

* 645D development had indeed been*freezed*for internal reasons. The project isn't abandoned at all.

* No FF development for now although they keep an eye on that opportunity. 645D development is ofhighr priority than FF.

If someone reads japanese, please enlighten us, I can't do better than that.

New APS-C dSLR's next year... and some aircrafts.

They want to make oq on APS-C just as good as the iq is on FF.
I like this. 645D could be a maybe and FF not.

Well I hope this is the case.

With technology moving so fast the FF is marketing hype (IMHO).

Pentax/Samsung WILL make a APS-C sized sensor that is just awsome and it is probable just around the corner.

Just my 2c

The priority is 645D. Not FF.
New models of APS-C cameras instead of K200D and K20D will be on market on summer, 2009. As I understand it will be with new sensors.
I think it will be announced close to spring of 2009.

The sensor for K-m and K200D made by Sony under special order of Pentax.

it'd be logical that Pentax migrate totally to Samsung sensors

Aircraft??? Ohhh, I'm starting to tremble with anticipation! It's like a Pentaxian pilot's dream come true!

I'm wondering if Pentax's aircraft will come with shake reduction? The weather-proofing will CERTAINLY come in handy!

My guess, it is slang for camera that translates to aircraft.

I love online translators!

Ran that text through Yahoo Babelfish, came up with this:
It is small preponderantly, K-m which has the forum whose but familiarity to the right hand is good the size has succeeded in including to the hand being off-center revision function inside the body contrarily.

Also, Google translation says:
Km So the main target of a woman and two narrowed youth.
While Yahoo says:
Then the main target of K-m the woman and was squeezed in two of young layer.

I admit there are flaws in the system, but at least they are entertaining ones!

As for aircraft, I reckon some kind of Pentax radio-controlled eye-in-the-sky will be announced next year...

There's no plan to build full sized aircraft, instead Pentax will build cropped version of aircraft, slow and with limited low light capabilities.
Pentax do keep in mind, though, that it is possible to build full size aircraft with all the qualities of other aircrafts, but they decided not to do it at this time.

Samsung is not priority as sensor maker for Pentax.
He said that Pentax would choose THE BEST from sensors for K300D and K30D,
referring to Sony which made good sensors for K200D and K-m.

As I understand K200D/K-m have another version of 10 Mp CCD sensor than K10D.

Very good price for body of K-m in Japan. 475 USD approx.

I'm fine with the IQ on the K20D as is, but I would like for them to improve their view finder to make it larger if they don't plan on making a FF camera. The K20D view finder is great until you pick up a 5D or D700 and look through it then go back to the K20D.

I think this is smart of them, despite how many people clamor for FF it really is a minuscule market. However that could just be because of cost; there's not a big market for any $3000 camera no matter the format. Once prices drop who knows.

No doubt the Auto-Pilot system will be a tad sluggish, but dead on accurate, compared to the overpriced Northrop and Cirrus "pro" models though.

"I like the compact味WAENAKATTA in the video,活KA the power of a lens to view the video of the subject. They are also in development, anti-shake feature for the next video will be important Is not. But the problem is. One of the problems of sound.'s Digital SLR various sounds when you leave work, so must the measures. Naturally, the movement of the diaphragm and smooth AF I have to follow? Clear if these conditions, the lens can be described in the power of video and open up a new world. "

This seems to suggest that a Video function will be a possibility on the next Generation of Pentax cameras.
I am starting to warm to this video in SLR concept and Pentax may have a huge advantage over the canikons with in camera shake reduction - I also note the comment on smooth AF as well - perhaps a new AF on the way??
