conversation at camera store

Was on my way home from a gig and stopped at a camera store I have been going to for years. The store just changed hands to a former employee. They don't sell pentax new, but usually have some used lenses for a good price. As I talked to the new owner he asked me about my Pentax gear. He told me he is thinking about dropping N***n and selling Pentax instead. He said the current costs for him to deal in N***n are just to high. He did say he wanted to wait and see if Pentax is going to pull a Minolta before he decides what to do. This is a small shop in a smaller town (bayfield CO). I'll be watching closely and see what he does. Just thought you all might want to know. BTW picked up a vivitar 28mm f2.8 close focus and a M28 f2.8.

That is the general trend for most retailers. Everybody seems to be holding their breath when it comes to Pentax.

If they pull a Minolta, what will they end up doing? Optics is all Pentax has ever done. They won't start making photocopiers (if they did, I'd buy one), and even if they get bought by Samsung, Holden or China, they'll still be doing what they do best - cameras. Great cameras.

Look at the A700 and A900 from Sony - that's some heavy KM engineering in there. Those cameras are so old-school, they don't even have live view (le gasp)!

I, and others, use some variation of "Nik*n" or Canikon, etc to reduce the number of trolls who look for the word "Nikon" posted in these forums.

Personally I have no problem with the word, the brand or the camera, but anything to reduce trolls looking for a flame war is good.

I don't think there is anything that can get rid of RH. The man is a "Maverick" remember?
