Ok am I just being pessimistic when I say that's what's it's BEEN selling for since Christmas, when it was cheaper? I mean, I'm not saying it's not a reasonable price for the camera, it just seems like they "lowered the price from 25 cents to "THREE FOR A DOLLAR!"
Check Amazon for their price on the K20D... available, and substantially below MSRP- and an attractive financing offer if that is a factor. B&H appears to be out of stock on the Body only, and Adorama hasn't reacted to the MSRP price cut as of an hour ago.
I hope there is NOT a K30D / K3D released, or if there is it does NOT have dramatically faster & more accurate focus (and maybe framerate too)... because I know I'll have to pay top dollar for that whereas I could instead by the K20D+3yr warranty at a kick-arse price. With fingers crossed Pentax disappoints us all this upcoming show...
( edit: I don't find the 3-yr warranty mentioned on the buy it now page )
The current Pentax line-up looks like:
K20d body: 800$
K200d body: 600$
K2000d kit: 600$
Three DSLRs within 200$...
If there is a K200d replacement at PMA, where would it be placed?
Would an 800$ kit price be viable?
Good question. It's starting to look like Pentax will anounce both the K20D and the K200D replacement at PMA.
Myabe we'll see:
K2000D body only
K300D (a K20D with the front e-dial removed, and a penta mirror) @ $800.00
K30D (same sensor as K20D but new autofocus, and new frames/sec) @ $1300.00
But then that just looks too obvious. Maybe Pentax will add a twist with their special marketing magic.
After reading what DPreivew had to say that thing looks like it is a serious contender for the entry lvl market. Holy cow it's got lots of bells and whistles! Wonder how the IQ will be. I wonder what the E-4 will look like...geez...
Its got the weather sealing and in-body stabilization, two of Pentax's main marketing points. Hope Pentax has a good answer to that or they might just get squeezed out.
