Oly's mentality was a marketing move. More megapixels = more noise, and the 4/3 sensors can't handle noise that well. That's why they stick to 12mp.

But you are right, Pentax is adopting Oly's mentality for the same reason.

I think that's right. It's more important to first reduce the noise and than go for more MP. 14.6 is enough for consumers. With my K10d I've enough, but to much noise.

I find this apathy towards pixels perplexing. It's as though you all got trolled by Ken Rockwell or something.

As far as I'm concerned, the more pixels the better.

It is not a problem of "we don't want more pixels", sure we do all want (the card capacity is really small problem) but what do we have to forget by having those more pixels?

If it reduces synamic range or increases noise, then let those pixels fond another home, I really don't care.

Most users are satisfied with 14Mpix but would like better noise, and high ISO possibilities as well as, why not after all, HD video.

Well, the 5DII (24mp) has better colour depth, better dynamic range and less noise than the 5D (12mp). How does this fit into your world-view?

Only? K20D's DNGs are 23.3mb.

I would like to have the option of high mpx.. But then have the option to combine them for lower mpx.. But with very clean high iso and excellent dynamic range
